How to Find Opportunities for Winning YouTube Content

Here at TubeBuddy, we know the time and care you take over the videos you upload to YouTube. But what happens after your content goes live? Are you taking the same care about analyzing the data to build on your success, or finding ways to promote your content?

You may be missing out on many opportunities to promote your video outside of YouTube because of time constraints, a lack of resources, or you just don’t know where to start looking for that information.

Wouldn’t you love a hand to gain more views, subscribers, and engagement? Or identify any new content you can create based on the engagement and reach your other videos have generated?
You can pour over your YouTube analytics for hours, trying to spot any potential room for growth. Or, if you have a TubeBuddy Star or Legend license, you can save a tremendous amount of time just by using our Opportunity Finder!

Opportunity Finder: Solid Ideas for YouTube Channel Growth

The Opportunity Finder is part of our ‘Video SEO’ suite of tools and can be extensively mined for suggestions regarding channel growth. These recommendations are based on your past video performance, so the data is exclusive to your channel.

We know it can often take too long to research items that TubeBuddy automatically finds for you using this feature.

Click on ‘Website Tools’ from the drop-down menu on the TubeBuddy dashboard, then click through to ‘Launch Pad’ to access the tools. That action will open the following dashboard:

You’ll be presented with a list of your published videos from the last 30 days and any opportunities you have to fine-tune your optimization and promotion.

If we click on ‘Opportunities’ on the far right, a new dashboard appears with suggestions from TubeBuddy on how to proceed.

Before we open the ‘Found Opportunities’ tab, our ‘Best Practices’ check has picked up on the fact that our latest video doesn’t include any Cards (which we omitted for the purposes of this demonstration.)

The recommendation is to add at least one Card to our video about “How to Grow Faster on YouTube (Without Uploading 100’s of Videos).” But the suggestion goes even further by explaining why Cards are a valuable feature for your viewer, plus a link to more information about our handy ‘Card Templates’ tool.

If we click on the ‘Found Opportunities’ tab, the tool suggests two new actions for us to take:

  • Audience Retention: High Watch Percentage
  • Community: Comments Awaiting Response

Responding to comments promptly is always a helpful reminder, and you’ll find a direct link to your comment section when you click on this suggestion.

‘Audience Retention: High Watch Percentage’ is golden information for any creator. The tool confirms that this particular video has generated a higher viewing percentage based on our other content. It’s a quick and easy way to keep on top of the performance of your recent videos and also help you build out your YouTube content calendar for the next few weeks or months.

To get the full benefits of the Opportunity Finder report, it’s best to wait around two days from your last published video so that the tool has enough data to pull from.

One of the best things about this feature is that you can email alerts to yourself so you never miss a recommendation.

If you hold a TubeBuddy Star or Legend license but have never run an opportunity report on any of your previous uploads, we highly encourage you to start now so you never miss a chance to promote your video or channel to as many viewers as possible!
